History

I've been in love with history since I was a little kid. I knew back in high school that I would major in History at college. And sure enough, I did. I got my Bachelor's after 4 hears of study at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. And the after a year in Europe and a year working, I decided grad school was right for me.

For part of that year, I worked at a wonderful little museum in Kansas City, call the Arabia Steamboat Museum. It's about a steamboat that sank on the Missouri River in 1856 and was dug up 120 years later with over 200 tons of pre-Civil War frontier artifacts in absolutely breathtaking condition on board.

But I didn't sign up for a Master's in History. I admit it, I fall asleep reading non-fiction history just like the rest of you. And I hate research. So I chose Museum Studies. Museums offer a way to present History to the public in all its fascinating glory. I'm now one semester from finishing my Master's at George Washington University in Washington, DC. It's a great place to study museums, what with the Smithsonians and the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and all.

My main interests in History are the Colonial Period in American History, the Civil War, Native American History (particularly in the later 1800's) and the Holocaust.
